The 2012 Concert Lineup

Darien CornFest is proud to announce the musical lineup for this year’s festival. From rock to country, from blues to bluegrass, this year’s musical entertainment will keep your foot tapping and your body moving and grooving all weekend long.

Opening the Cornfest Weekend will be the Rainbow Bridge Band from Janesville.

They will be playing from 8-12.

Entertaining us Saturday from 12-4 PM will be The StateLine Playboys.

Rocking us all on Saturday night will be 76 Juliet.

There is nothing like a great parade. The Darien Cornfest’s annual Sunday Parade was no exception [thanks to Pattie and her Posse]. The awesome parade of Fire and Service vehicles [and crews] were enjoyed by all. So much that they get their own gallery. Check it out.

9-11 Tribute

To honor the ten year anneversary of 9-11 we will be having a tribute at the Fire Station. We will be retiring the American Flag with a Flag Ceremony. There will be a special treat of hearing Michael Claridge perform his new song “We the People” – Local Fox channel 6 will be there to record the event, look out for it.

What is Clogging?

Clogging is a PERCUSSIVE DANCE FORM — so yes, it is similar to tap, irish and canadian step dance. But clogging is more than that. Clogging is very much a part of our American heritage. It began in the Appalachian Mountain region and was brought to America by Irish, Scottish, English and Dutch Germans who settled there in the mid 1700s. The settlers shared dances from their home countries and new ‘combined’ forms of dance began to evolve. Our Native Americans, African Americans and even gypsies added to the evolution of this unique dance. And the evolution continued. Canadian step dance, tap and jazz dance have influenced how clogging changed over time. And we still see this evolution — with influences from street dance, hip-hop and more making thier way into the clogging routines of today.

It’s going to be a fun event to attend. Please join us.
